Amazon's Kindle has come out with a international type. I should be geting mine within days. As for the new Kindle Fire I'm hopeing when sales start in Europe the newer more priceyer Kindle will be available. Sad not being able to get better service from the states. As far as I can tell Kindle E-reader should work fine. You book lovers should love that I do.

Ecuador does have great coffee. Actually, most of it is robusta, not arabica, which is unusual given that Peru and Colombia are more famous for arabica. I shopped at Supermaxi when I lived in Quito, and you're right, they have a great selection.

Same does not have any good coffee, nor did it have a Supermaxi.

Ecuador has really good coffee. You just didin't look at the right place.
Next time when you are in Ecuador go to "commisariato" or "supermaxi"
There you will find brands like "sweet and coffee", "gardella" and from Colombia the have "juan valdez"
These brands are 100% arabic beans and they make a sweet espresso!!!.
Fingerlicking good, better than that crap from "STARBUCKS" in the USA.

FWIW, Verizon's iPhone 4S DOES have a sim slot, and you CAN put in other providers sim cards. Reference this article explaining how to ask Verizon to do the international unlock: http://news.cnet.com/8301-3...

I've just had them do it on my phone, and am just now researching which provider to use while in Ecuador: Moviestar, Porta, or go with Truphone, that supports cheaper roaming.

I also had this problem with my sony reader pocket edition, after a few days of research I've figured out it myself, it doesn't happen when I power off the reader before plugging it and safely removing after. Sony customer support sucks.

While this might be the case in some places, most internet cafés that I saw use Skype. In fact, they advertise it, painting the Skype logo on the window or door of the place. In these places, you're charged just a per minute price to use the computer, and Skype is just one of the many programs you can use within that time. Net Flanders (yes, the name is a play on Homer Simpson's neighbor's name) is the café that I used most often, and there is a camera atop every computer. Net Flanders is at Juan Leon Mera and Joaquin Pinto.

The only thing I'm wondering is, I have read that internet cafes do not let you use skype because they would like you to pay for the long distance services that they are providing themselves. If you can't use it in the internet cafes, where are you supposed to use it?

www.moveyourphotos.com is another alternative. It's only gone online in the last day so it hasn't been overwhelmed by traffic yet, and it lets you take any albums from facebook, not just your own!

Interestingly, after starting the Download yesterday on FB, 5 hours later I got an email saying that it could not be completed, and I should try my download again. I thought I'd started a second attempt last night, but received no email this morning from Facebook as to its success or failure, and the Download button was enabled again. Now I can click Download as many times as I like, and it never changes to Pending. Fbook "failing" on purpose? I wouldn't be surprised. They need to accept that they were just a cog in the evolving wheel of social networking, not the be-all/end-all. They should see that their time is up and bow out gracefully.

Interesting results! It seems there is a strong correlation between reading for pleasure and the device chosen. This invariably does not go hand-in-hand with PDF support!

If someone was serious about PDF support, they would not go near a standard kindle. The Kindle DX is the way to go in that instance, or a 10.1" tablet device preferably with a higher resolution like some of the newer android honeycomb tabs.
